How to maintenance and repair SEC-E9 key cutter?

How to keep SEC-E9 key cutting machine in good condition to serve longer time? These tips are what we collected and summarized from many after-sales support cases.

The Power Supply

SEC-E9 can only operate normally under DC24V/5A , if the supply voltage is greater than DC24V, the unit may be damaged due to overvoltage; at low voltage, it will cause reduced motor output, resulting a incorrect positioning of the movement and insufficient cutting efforts.

The Cutter

Please change the cutter regularly, and be sure to use Kukai original cutter. This is very important.

Correct Cutting Speed

The material of the key blanks affects the cutter's cutting performance. Please choose the cutting speed according to the key blank hardness, this help you keep the lifetime of the cutter.

Good protection

Please don't beat or pound the machine, don't place the machine in rain or snow, either.

Key Blanks

Before cutting a key, please do check whether the key blank is standard. If the key blank itself is flawed, it may not able to achieve the desired results.

Tips for maintenance and repair:

#1. Clean

In order to extend the service life of E9 meanwhile maintain the accuracy of the machine, you should always do a good job of cleaning, just removing the debris above the decoder, the cutter, the clamps and the debris tray when every key blank side done.

#2. Parts

Always check the fasterning parts - screws and nuts, whether loose or not.

#3. Accuracy

When the machine can't be calibrated, or cutting a key is not accurate, please contact the after-sales staff to replace the damaged parts or help you adjust incorrect positioning parts timely

#4. Working Environment

Do not expose the tablet to sunlight. Once the tablet is exposed to the sun for too long, the temperature will increase and the lamp in the screen will be aging accelerated, this will greatly reduce the useful life of your tablet, and the tablet may even be exploded.

#5. Regular Checking

We suggest to check the performance status of the machine every month and to clean the machine deeply.

#6. Correct Repair Operation

You must conduct repair work under the guidance of our support team, you can't disassemble the machine privately. Please do remember to unplug the power plug when you doing the maintenance.

SEC-E9 Key Cutting Machine Error Solutions

Why You Got A Not-accurate Key Copied Out?

Today, we will tell you the reason why your SEC-E9 key cutting is not accurate and the correct operation method to cut a key accurate.

1. You didn't do calibration before starting to cut a key.

Solution:

A. After you receive new machine or the machine has been used for a period of time, please re-calibrate the machine in order to ensure the cutting accuracy. Usually once a month but it’s up to the frequency you use your machine.

B. Once you reset the distance between the decoder and cutter, all the clamps should be re-calibrated.

C. If you have replaced the main board or upgraded the firmware, please do all the calibration procedures

D. Be sure to clean the clamps, keep it free of metal shavings.

2. Decoder and cutter related issues

Main Reasons:

A. non-original decoder and cutter

B. Decoder and cutter used too long time and didn't replace them regularly.

Solution:

A. The original decoder and cutter is critical to life of the E9 Key Cutting Machine and key cutting accuracy. Please use the original decoder and cutter, we will not responsible to any problems caused by user who uses a non-original decoder and cutter.

B. When the cutter is blunt or cut a key with burr, please replace a new cutter promptly, and don't use it any more, in case of fracture or personnel injury.

3. Wrong selection of sensing key location during cutting process

Solution:

Do calibration with correct calibration method, adjust the correct cutting speed, and select the corresponding sensing key location to cut a key.

4. Wrong position of key/blanks placed

Solution:

A. flat milling key placed on the upper layer.

B. laser keys placed on the lower layer.

C. the key should be placed smoothly, tighten the clamp

5. "Rounding" choice

Solution:

When you copy a key but the original key has been used a long time and gets a lot of wear and tear, in this case you should cancel the choice of "round" when you decoding the original key, then cut a new key.

9 tips to maintain SEC-E9 key cutting machine

The SEC-E9 key copy machine is one of the tools necessary for the locksmith, it can be copied according to the customer sent a key, copy another exactly same key, fast and accurate. So how to maintain the machine to make it longer service time?

There are many types of key duplicators sold on the market, but the principles and methods of reproduction are similar, so this article can be applied to all modles. The maintenance methods described in this reference also apply to the models you have.

1. Check screws

Often check the fastening parts of the key cutting machine, ensure the screws, nuts are not loose.

2. Do clean work

In order to extend the service life also keep the accuracy of the key cutting machine, you should always do a good job in cleaning work. Always remove the chippings from the clamp after processing every key duplication, to ensure that transmission mechanism is smooth and fixture positioning is accurate. Also pour out chippings from crumb tray in time.

3. Add lubricating oil

Often add lubricating oil in the rotation and sliding parts.

4. Check cutter

Frequently check the cutter, especially the four cutting edges, once one of them was damaged, you should change it timely so to keep every cutting to be accurate.

5. replace carbon brush periodically

Usually key cutting machine use DC motor of 220V/110V, carbon brush is in the DC motor. When the machine cumulatively operate over 200 hours, it’s the time to check the damage and wear. If you see the carbon brush is only 3mm length, you should replace a new one.

6. Driving belt maintenance

When the drive belt is too loose, you can release the fixing screw of the machine top cover, open the top cover, release the motor fixed screws, move the motor to the belt elastic proper position, tighten the screws.

7. Monthly check

It is recommended to conduct a comprehensive check every month with the key machine performance status, to do a calibration for clamps.

8. Parts replacement

Remember to contact the factory where you buy your key cutting machine from to get the original parts. If your cutter is broken, you must get a new one from the same factory, to keep it match with the axis and the whole machine.

9. Working outside

Before go out, you shall do a clean work to remove all the chippings. Lay flat your machine and keep steady. Don’t let it inclined or upside-down.

Note: When doing maintenance and repair work for the machine, you must unplug the power plug; In the repair with the key machine circuit, it must be carry out by a registered electrical certificate of professionals and technical personnel.

SEC-E9 Key Cutting Machine Bluetooth drops or disconnections Solution

Customers who bought SEC-E9 (Tablet PC Bluetooth version) know that successful SEC-E9 operation is based on successful Bluetooth connection. Once Bluetooth disconnects, the machine does not work properly, which brings some inconvenience to customers. Here Kukai focus on Bluetooth connection problem and tell you specific reasons why bluetooth drops and how to deal with it.

1. Incorrect boot sequence

The correct boot steps is:

A. Connect the power switch with power supply (Input Voltage is DC 100-240V) .

B. Clockwise twisting switch to turn on the machine, and then long press the switch of tablet till logo appears.

C. Please wait seconds, SEC-E9 will go to main page automatically.

D. Once you see the main page of SEC-E9 in tablet, it means the tablet and the machine get in touch with each other successfully.

So how to reboot in case anything happened. Here it is:

A. Press “Shutdown” button in the main page.

B. Press the power switch to turn off the machine.

C. Please wait for 2 minites and then strictly follow in boot steps to do.

2. Bluetooth module is dropped by interference

Solution:

Firstly follow the correct steps to turn on SEC-E9. Please check the area in below picture, if it light blue it means that Bluetooth module operate normally, it will automatically macth and takes tens of seconds, please be patient and don't touch any button on the screen.

If the Bluetooth disconnects, please find the bluetooth serial number by clicking the Bluetooth icon in the lower right corner, and click “remove device”and “Pair” again. Enter password “8888” and click “next”. If you can enter the main page successfully, that means the Bluetooth setting is completed successfully.

2. If you follow in correct boot way, but the blue light is not light in that area, please contact with our support team, we will guide you online how to deal with it.

How to upgrade SEC-E9 key cutting machine Bluetooth Version

How to upgrade SEC-E9 key cutting machine?

—for Tablet PC Bluetooth Version

1. Click ”Setup”

2. Click”Wifi”

3. Connect Wifi

4. Press ”UpdateCheck” after the wifi is connected successfully.

( Please notice that you just need to click the ”UpdateCheck” once, no need to click it repeatedly)

5. Click ”Upgrade” button

6. After upgrading successfully, the tablet PC will automatically jump to the main page.

Notice

1. Please keep the Wifi conncted when upgrade

2. Please keep the network smooth

3. Please do not turn off tablet PC when upgrading

4. Please do not operate the tablet PC when downloading the upgrade files.

5. Please disconnect Wifi after upgrade is done. ( otherwise the system will generate garbage when tablet PC updates automatically . Also cause the system to run slowly.)

How to upgrade:

Check upgrade information and latest database available

Download database to your computer

Unzip database

Insert USB disk with database to SEC-E9 key cutting machine

Go to Device setup->Upgrade

Wait until upgrade is finished.

This upgrade is mainly for Volkswagen Golf7, Magotan 2018, Lavida 2018, Phaeton etc. also for Audi 2018 new models, need to work with HU162T clamp and 1.9mm cutter.

The upgrade only for SEC-E9 Generation II and III. If your machine is Generation I, you will have to upgrade the touch screen to tablet to achieve this key data.

This upgrade only for standard SEC-E9 key cutting machine, customized machines will have special upgrade file. Please contact the manufacturer directly if yours is customized machine.
